Southern Railway Recruitment for Act Apprentices: Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for the position of Apprentice at various Divisions, Workshops, and Units within the jurisdiction of Southern Railway under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Applicants must be resident in one of the following areas/locations within Southern Railway’s geographic jurisdiction.

1. The entire state of Tamil Nadu

2. The entire Puducherry Union Territory

3. The entire state of Kerala

4. The entire Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep

5. Only SPSR Nellore and Chittoor districts of Andhra Pradesh.

6. A single district, Dakshina Kannada, in Karnataka

Southern Railway Recruitment Age Limit:

Candidates must have completed minimum 15 years of age. For Fresher’s and Ex-ITI the maximum allowed age is 22 and 24 Years respectively.

There is a 3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates, a 5 years age relaxation for SC/ST candidates, and a 10 years age relaxation for persons with benchmark disabilities (PWD).

Southern Railway Recruitment Minimum Academic/Technical Qualification:

  • A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of the 10th class examination under the 10 + 2 system or its equivalent is required. During the calculation of percentage of matriculation, candidates’ marks in all subjects will be considered and not their best of five or best marks in a particular subject.
  • The candidate must have passed an ITI course in the relevant trade from a recognized institution. ITI marks will be calculated based on the average marks of all semesters of the trade applied/marks on the provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.

Southern Railway Recruitment Application Fees:

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable fee of 100 through the ONLINE MODE. SC/ST/PWD/women candidates are not required to pay a fee.

The Administration will under no circumstances accept a request for a refund of a fee once it has been remitted by the candidate.

Southern Railway Recruitment Selection Process:

A merit list will be prepared for all candidates who apply in response to the notification, and candidates will be selected according to that list. As a rule, merit lists will be constructed according to a percentage of marks in matriculation (with at least 50% aggregate marks) plus ITI marks in the trade in which apprenticeship will be completed. A simple average based on matriculation and ITI marks will be used in the selection process.
